How we look after your studies
What you write in Tērēo is personal. Here, in plain English, is what we keep, where it lives, who can see it, and how to take it with you or delete it.
Who we are
Tērēo is a small, independent Bible study app run from the United Kingdom. If you have any question about your data, email [email protected].
What we keep
Your account: your name, email address and username. Your password is stored by our sign-in provider in a scrambled (hashed) form that no one, including us, can read.
What you make in Tērēo: your studies, the Bible passages you paste in, highlights, pen strokes, typed notes, tags, folders and the dates they were created and changed.
Studies you send: when you send a study to someone by username, a copy goes to them.
Visits to the website: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits, without cookies and without following you around the web. It never sees what you write.
If you use Tērēo without an account, everything stays in your browser on that device and is never sent to us.
Why we keep it
To provide the service you ask for: saving your studies and keeping them in step across your devices (the law calls this performing a contract with you). Visit counts help us understand whether the site is working (our legitimate interest).
Where it is kept
Your account and studies are stored with our database provider, Supabase, in London, in the UK. The website is delivered by Cloudflare. Tērēo also keeps a copy on your device so you can study offline.
Who can see it
Only you. The database itself only lets each person read their own library; a study you send is visible to you and the person you sent it to. We don’t sell your data, show adverts, or use what you write for anything else. We won’t look at your studies unless you ask us to help with something, or the law requires it.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. When you delete a study or your account, it is removed from the live database straight away. Any backup copies we keep are deleted within 90 days.
Your choices and rights
Download everything at any time: My Account → Backup.
Correct your name, email or username: My Account → Your details.
Delete your account and everything in it: My Account → Advanced → Delete my account.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to stop using it, by emailing [email protected]. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
If you’re under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app. This version was last updated on 25 October 2026.
